Product Creation, part 3 is coming tomorrow!

Just wanted to let you know that tomorrow I will be posting the next piece in the Product Creation series. Also look for some slideshows and/or videos for all 3 modules soon. I want to give you the best chance possible to help you on the road to creating your own products.

So – don’t go anywhere! Look for that tomorrow and perhaps by this weekend, I’ll upload a free report on creating products for you. What do you think?

A few days ago we talked about one way to create products – writing a workbook or study guide from a public domain resource. Today we’re going to continue talking about Product Creation and our 2nd idea is to get others to write an eBook for you.

This is another very, very easy way to create a product. Let’s say you want to write a book about growing tomatoes but perhaps you don’t have the time or the specialized knowledge to do it yourself. How can you then create a usable, quality product?

The answer – you find others who DO have the time and knowledge to contribute to the book. Go to forums and other places where gardeners hang out, watch and learn and then ask folks who seem to be well educated in growing tomatoes to write a chapter for you. And you do that with several people. You can do this with any subject, even.

When they turn their chapters in to you, you write an intro chapter, ensure things are cleaned up and flow well and put it all together. You’ve now got a book you can market or give away.

Now, it doesn’t have to be fancy – but it certainly does need to be neat and clean looking and well organized. I suggest making a PDF eBook so that it’s compatible with both Mac and PC users. They’re also more helpful for those who have slow connections and/or older computers. Just Google for “free pdf” and you’ll find some good resources for creating PDF documents quickly and easily. And Adobe Reader is free for anyone who downloads your book.

For our first post about Product Creation, let’s talk about one of the easiest ways to create your own product – write a workbook or study guide using a public domain resource.

Now, to me this is the easiest because the material is already written for you, basically. All you really need to do is have an understanding of the material and just pull some questions from it or write some commentary on what a particular passage means.

For example, let’s say you really enjoy Napolean Hill’s Think and Grow Rich. You’ve read it, studied it and have a dog eared copy somewhere on your bookshelf. Did you know this great work is in the public domain? And because it is, you can snag stuff from it and create a workbook or guide for other readers.

It’s really that simple.

Next time in this series, we’ll talk about getting others to write a book for you. That’s pretty easy too. And it’s a lot of fun!

Oh man!

I just got Ed Dale’s blog post on the Thirty Day Challenge blog that as he’s hopping a plane for London today, the lesson won’t be up until Monday. Damn!

This week marks the beginning of a new direction for the Thirty Day Challenge. Ed Dale has graciously decided to continue on beyond August with additional weekly training. So, September brings product creation. This is an especially important step in the system.

I am excited about this because it’s something I’ve been interested in for quite some time. Now that I have the tools we learned during August, putting that together with product creation will skyrocket what I am able to do with my businesses. And I’m putting together a plan to take everything to the next level.

September isn’t just about the kids going back to school anymore.

I just had a sudden revelation -

For the last few years, I’ve bought dozens of online products – all sitting here on my hard drive – and I’ve never really known what to do with them.

And some of the “free” products I received as part of some package I always thought were kinda cheesy. Well, as I’m sitting here looking for additional niches, I’ve come across a good half a page of possible niches that I already own products for! I had no interest in those “cheesy” topics, but apparently, I’m alone in that thought. Because most of these key phrases have upwards of 300 hits per day according to GTrends and have less than 30k competing sites.

Hmmm . . . I’m so excited, I might just stay up half the night and work on them. I really want to see everything I’ve been doing all month come together.

And congrats to all the people out there who have made their $10 or more. I heard it’s official there has been a $700+ dollar sale and a $7,000 sale! WOW! That rocks!

I have a niche I’ve been sitting on for over a year because I just didn’t know how to take it to the next level. Not that I didn’t try – I bought Butterfly Marketing, The 7 Figure Code and other programs trying to find an edge in the market – because it’s a tough one (and probably one Ed says we should steer clear of) – but I keep at it because I know the market well. It’s something I’m good at and have been doing as a hobby for many years and I want to share my knowledge and experience with others getting into it or trying to learn it.

And I think I’ve had a revelation today that will allow me to take it to the next level. I’m so excited about that I can hardly stand it. The kids will probably not allow me to get much work done until papa gets home from work, though, so I’m going to just work out a more long-term plan with it.

It’s really too bad some niches are “off limits” because many of them are niches I know well. Take the health industry for example. I’m a health nut – holistic, all natural medicines, organic foods, natural cleaning products – the whole nine yards, as it were. And I can’t do anything in that niche because Ed says it’s a no-no.

Yeah, I’ve tried to find a cool little phrase in there somewhere that gets good ranking on the GTrends tool but nope, nothing. What a bummer.

I’m curious about everyone else’s niches too. Just curious – no underhanded thoughts there. I just want to know how my niches “fit” for lack of a better term with what others have found. So far, I haven’t found anyone doing either of my niches although one has a couple of very close – shall we say – relatives. I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing.

Looks like I’m rambling here and I’ve totally lost my point, so I better go watch today’s videos again because I missed part of Rob’s first video and then go work on my niches a bit more. One isn’t performing well so I think I may change it a bit and maybe add one more platform before I decide whether or not to dump it.

Oh – and I’m getting very excited about next month! Ed said in his video today that the strategy we’ll be learning in September is product creation. I’ve studied it some already but I’m looking forward to Ed’s “golden nuggets” – he explains things in ways many others don’t and I really like that. I always pick up something from his instruction that never came through in others.

Well, it’s one of those days where the kids seem to have “annoy the hell out of mom and be naughty” on their must do lists and I’m pulling my hair out over it.

The little guy has been up since 5 freakin’ 30 this morning, his little big sister is not feeling well and is whinnier than a power steering system that needs fluid and big brother is his usual “pick on the the little kids and make them scream” self. Oh – and I heard the teenager yell from her room for everyone to shut up.

Lovely.

And I didn’t finished the “Challenge within the Challenge” over the weekend as I was busy creating a book cover for a client’s brand new book coming out soon. He’s very pleased with the outcome so far and we just have one more revision before it’s finalized. If he gives me the ok, I’ll post the final design for you to check out.

Although I’m thankful for the work the client provided and it’s been fun working on the project, I really wish I could have done better with the “Challenge within the Challenge.”

So – now it’s Monday, the kids are not behaving well and to top that off, one of my old fillings in a back molar is giving me fits and caused the tooth to crack! Hopefully, the insurance will cover it but it’s the 2nd one that’s done this in the last 4 months, so I’m not sure they’ll cover it without a big deal.

Word to the wise – if you have old fillings, you might want to have them replaced BEFORE they cause any problems.
