Quicksilver

30 Aug

This is not what I intended to write about today, but I just had to share another cool tool – Quicksilver. Now, if you’re not on a Mac, this will mean nothing to you but read on anyway. 😉

I have had Quicksilver installed for months but never really knew how to use it. Just hadn’t had the time to figure it out or look at any tutorials for it. Anyway – I saw Ed use it a week or so during one of the 30dc videos and thought I really should learn how to use it.

Well, let me tell you – it’s really cool. I can find any THING on my computer, launch any program on my hard drive with just a few keystrokes. Very cool.

Here is a good intro video – enjoy!

And if you want to learn even more, here are two good websites –

Review: blog i360

29 Aug

If you’ve read my previous posts, you know I’ve mentioned a blogging platform called blog i360. I use it for my TheWritePoint.com website – a site about writing/copywriting/editing etc – that had been sitting dormant for a year or so because I really had no idea what to do with it nor how to implement any of the ideas I did have from time to time.

logo2.gifA couple of months ago, I was introduced to New Media Marketing and Blog interactive 360 by a friend of mine. Since then, I’ve met the owners Deb and JP Micek on Myspace – great people! And their team is wonderful. Anytime I have a question, they respond quickly and professionally and it’s been a pleasure to work with them.

Although I have not gotten TWP up and running exactly as I want it yet (mostly due to concentrating on the 30dc all month), I know blog i360 is the way to do so and I hope to have it finished by next week.

What’s so special about blog i360?

Lots! First, it’s built on the WordPress platform so it’s easy. But blog i360’s “Pushbutton Persuasian” makes it even easier. And – it’s optimized for ALL the stuff we’ve learned during the 30 Day Challenge! From SEO to Tags to Social Bookmarking and more.

There’s even stuff we haven’t learned at 30dc – OTO pages, squeeze pages and lots of good stuff you might have heard big name marketers talk about. It’s all there in the blog i360 system.

The best part is that you can get in for only $1! Then, it’s – I think but don’t quote me – $39 a month. Heck of a lot less than most others services like this. And you get more too.

In your members area, you’ll find HOURS of videos that you show step by step how to set up and use all of blog i360’s features. Plus, you automatically become an affiliate. Deb and JP have conference calls now and then that are included with your service where they go over nearly everything too. In fact, I think there’s one coming up tomorrow.

There’s also downloadable training materials too.

Here’s what sums it up for me – more than blog, easier than a website. I get the best of both – customization like a website with the ease and simplicity of a blog. What could be better?

If you want to check it out, please go to the blog i360 website and watch Deb and JP’s video and read the sales page. Or just click on the banner in the sidebar.

My Book is on Amazon.com!

29 Aug

I just checked and my book is now listed for sale for Amazon.com. I’m a little concerned, though, because it says it ships in “2 to 3 weeks” and I was told it would ship within 24 hours originally. Maybe it’s because it’s such a new listing. I don’t know. But I am so excited it’s actually there.

Now, I have some special plans I’m brewing for this book so I’m not going to share it with you yet (and besides, I don’t really think there are too many of you out there who are interested in real estate investing) but when I am ready, you can bet I’ll share it with you guys.

And if you ARE interested in REI, would you please let me know?

Thanks!

30dc Revelation

28 Aug

I just had a sudden revelation –

For the last few years, I’ve bought dozens of online products – all sitting here on my hard drive – and I’ve never really known what to do with them.

And some of the “free” products I received as part of some package I always thought were kinda cheesy. Well, as I’m sitting here looking for additional niches, I’ve come across a good half a page of possible niches that I already own products for! I had no interest in those “cheesy” topics, but apparently, I’m alone in that thought. Because most of these key phrases have upwards of 300 hits per day according to GTrends and have less than 30k competing sites.

Hmmm . . . I’m so excited, I might just stay up half the night and work on them. I really want to see everything I’ve been doing all month come together.

And congrats to all the people out there who have made their $10 or more. I heard it’s official there has been a $700+ dollar sale and a $7,000 sale! WOW! That rocks!

Now . . . it’s MY TURN! 🙂

Book Cover Edits Done & It’s a Go!

28 Aug

The editing is finally done on my clients book cover.

After what seems like a million revisions, he’s made his final selection and it’s a go! I just got off the phone with him and he’s very excited. The book is in final revisions right now and he expects everything will be done within the next 5-6 days. At that time, I will share the design with you all right here so keep an eye out for it – probably over the weekend or early next week.

He says “This cover is going to draw the reader in, especially those who’ve read my first book. It rocks!”

So there you have it!

Oh – and the funny thing – I made this prediction over a year ago along a few other ones that have now come true for him. Needless to say, he’s totally floored!

Cool Tools, Part 3

28 Aug

Continuing with my series on tools I use daily, I’ve got a few more for you. So far, I’ve talked about Basecamp, Backpack, Highrise, NeoOffice, and Blog i360, among others.

Today I have some Firefox Add-Ons that I want to share. I use them daily as well and if you’re a part of the 30dc and have set up Firefox the way Ed showed us in pre-season, you probably do too.

Cool Iris – view a webpage link without opening the page or clicking it’s link. Very useful if you’re not sure you really want that page.

Bloglines – feed reader that makes reading all the blogs you enjoy a snap.

Fasterfox – speeds up Firefox tremendously. Very nice if you have several plugins and add-ons as they can tend to slow FF down.

Review: Tumbled, the Theme

28 Aug

Last week another Challenger, Davinian, created a WP theme based on the Box theme over at Tumblr. It’s really quite nice. I set it up on my real estate website and once I have some content up there, I’ll share that link with you.

So far, I enjoy the theme and today Davinian posted that some more Web 2.0 type updates might be in order. I think that’s pretty cool as having video, photo and other options would add a lot of diversity to the theme.

You can check out Tumbled at Davinian’s website.
